When the summer months arrive, so do the wasps, and everyone knows how good these pests are at ruining a beautiful sunny day.

Queen wasps emerge from hibernation between March and May to start building their nests.  Nests are made up of a mix of chewed wood with saliva causing damage to property, especially when nesting behind plasterboards.

Wasps tend to favour areas that are less likely to be disturbed, as well as spaces that are protected by the elements.  As a result, their main haunts include the sheds, lofts, garages and wall cavities of unsuspecting people, and due to their tendency to attack when they are disturbed, getting a wasp infestation under control is a real matter of safety.

Hornet Pest Control

Hornets are less common, however, they are still likely to attack if they feel threatened.  While wasp stings are mostly harmless, to those that are allergic they can be deadly, with a number of deaths per year being linked to wasp stings.

Many people will not be aware that wasps can also bite which, in some cases, can be a more painful experience than a sting.  Parents and pet owners will want to be particularly aware as children and pets are particularly vulnerable. Business owners, too, will have high concerns if a wasp infestation breaks out – nothing will empty an attraction faster than an out of control wasp infection and risk of injury to patrons.
